MOMBASA ACADEMY
I am currently on a six-month voluntary internship at the Mombasa Academy, working with children between ages 3 and 7 years. This enriching opportunity began as an exploration of teaching and evolved into a deeper reflection on the environments that shape behaviour and development. I am becoming increasingly aware of children's unspoken needs and how their surroundings influence their wellbeing. This experience reinforced my belief that thoughtfully designed environments play a crucial role in supporting vulnerable groups, including both people and wildlife. It further solidified my commitment to landscape architecture as a means of addressing these needs.
The images below show some fun moments I had with children at the school.

For the school's cultural day to appreciate the different nationalities represented, Year 2 class and I showcased Brasilian culture. The children enjoyed painting the flag and colourful parrots displayed on the board. I helped to set up the space and design the 'Brasil' photo frame.

I made and sold Brasilian desserts - Brigadeiro and Beijinho de Coco, at the cultural day. Everyone enjoyed them!

The junior school celebrated 100 days of school since the academic year began in September 2025. I designed crowns for the Year 1 students to take home.

The children beautifully painted their Brasilian carnaval masks. I helped to curve out the shape and stick feathers and ribbons on the mask.
It was a pleasure to receive invaluable training from Pankaj Pandya, a chartered architect RIBA and the founder of Pankaj C Pandya Architects. During my time at his practice in Mombasa, Kenya in October and November 2025, I demonstrated diligence, willingness to learn and attention to detail, as I worked on technical drawings of various architectural design projects. This enhanced my technical skills in ArchiCAD software, which I used to deliver plan drawings, detailed sections, elevations and electrical drawings.

BERGMAN INTERIORS
In September 2024, I had the opportunity to do an internship at Bergman Interiors in London. I worked with the creative team on exciting local and international design projects. The exposure helped me to gain a good foundation in design principles and professional practice. This has helped me to become confident in how to work effectively in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.

Arranged furniture on site with the team.

TP BENNETT
I had a fantastic two weeks of work experience at TP Bennett, London in February 2023. My enthusiasm, and willingness to learn provided me with valuable knowledge and skills in professional practice. During my time there, I worked collaboratively with the team in interior design and sustainability projects. This sparked my interest in exploring environmental sustainability in interior design, material engagement and innovation.

Re-designing a workspace - my role was to research on location inspiration and create appropriate mood boards to share with the interior design team.
NEWH

I participated in the NEWH scholarship competition 2022, emerged the runner-up and received free NEWH membership for one year upon graduation. I had the amazing opportunity to attend NEWH events, where I met and networked with industry professionals. These events provided me with great insight and strengthened my critical thinking in sustainability and the future of interior design. My design story was published in the Space Magazine Rising Star, May/June 2023 issue .
